2020 is just around the corner, and, while the end of the year can be very exciting it is also very daunting. As the decade comes to an end it opens up a world of opportunity and great new beginnings.
Whether you are finishing school, starting university, leaping into a new job or simply planning on taking a year to yourself, we here at BYOE want to help you reflect on the past year and get you keen and ready for the next glorious adventures that await you.
First and foremost, we want to remind and encourage you to follow your passion. Passion is energy and what we manifest, we become. Life is short and precious and it’s important that you follow your passion. Think about what did and didn’t work this year, what made you feel good, what made you glow from the inside, out. Write those things down and be sure to do more of that in the coming year.
In addition to this, gratitude is a must. An attitude of gratitude is an attitude of success. Start by being grateful for all the things that happened in the past year. Then start being grateful for all the new year has install for you. Chances are you are likely to be showered with more magic and wonder than you could ever imagine. Get excited, get keen, jump around, maybe even dance a little.
Reflect and redirect. It’s only normal to want some sort of direction for the new year and in order to do this, we must first work out what accomplishments we managed to achieve this previous year. By writing these down we are often able to surprise ourselves by how much we actually managed to achieve. Think about these accomplishments from all different aspects, socially, emotionally, physically and maybe even career-wise. It’s so important to give yourself a pat on the back once in a while so that you can acknowledge the incredible power that you have within. This will also help you acknowledge what you want to continue working on and what is productive for you and what is not.
Maya Angelou once said ‘Nothing will work unless you do’. With the new year coming in, we must acknowledge that in order to achieve our goals we have to work hard and more importantly we have to start somewhere. Start with plan A and if that doesn’t work out the alphabet has got 25 more letters to work with. Try and try and try again, figure out what’s working and what’s not and readjust, ask for help, seek knowledge. Do whatever it is that you need to do to achieve your goals. Remember that when creating a goal you want it to be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed)
Take time out for yourself. Whether it be, being tired from busting your bum the whole year round or rather trying to achieve your goals in the new year, we must remember that our will power is limited and that we are only human after all. Celebrate your successes, don’t forget to time out for you, for life, for experiences. You can’t water your plants with an empty bucket. There is likely to always be more work, more stress, more missions to do, but the reality is that there might not always be time for life. Stop and smell the roses, acknowledge how wonderful and magical life is, even in the most simple and tiniest of ways.
Last but not least, believe in yourself. You have made this far and going to do great things with your life. Keep your faith within yourself and the ‘impossible’ will change to ‘I’m Possible’.
Wishing you a happy new year from all of us at BYOE.
